Brazil is the largest economy of Latin America, and its trade with the EU was equal to 30.8% of the EU’s total trade with the Latin America region in 2016. The EU is the biggest foreign investor in Brazil, with investments in many sectors of the Brazilian economy. On the other hand, the EU is Brazil’s secondbiggest trading partner, accounting for 18.3% of its total trade. Brazil is also one of the four Latin American countries that formed the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR), which signed an agreement with the EU in June 2019 for a comprehensive trade agreement. However, since March 2020, Covid-19 Pandemic affected not only the national economies but also international trade dramatically. Even though the measures are loosened as of June, it is expected that their effects will last for a few years.
ENRICH in Brazil is therefore organising a series of roundtable discussions to learn the status of bilateral trade cooperation from some national representatives from the EU MSs, their projections for the near future, and recommendations for companies that were in or planning to get in bilateral partnerships. The online sessions will take place between September and December 2020.
Outcomes: collective knowledge about European experience in Brazil, practical recommendations for European companies about the opportunities and challenges of doing business with Brazil from national perspectives.
The European Countries of Sweden, Austria, Slovenia, Portugal, Finland and the Netherlands are already confirmed and each session will be announced in our event section.
All roundtables will be livestreamed via YouTube, subscribe to our ‘ENRICH in Brazil’ Channel for updates.
