ENRICH in Brazil – Accreditation Visit @Porto Digital

ENRICH in Brazil has visited Porto Digital in Recife on the 4th July 2018. The visit is part of the process to become a Soft Landing Hub of ENRICH in Brazil. 

Situated in Recife, the Porto Digital is considered one of the main technology parks in Brazil. 

The Porto Digital is one of the main technology parks and innovation environments in Brazil. It also represents the new economy of the State of Pernambuco. Situated in Recife, its main areas of work are Software, Information and Communication Technology (ITC) as well as Creative Economy (CE), with emphasis on such segments as games, multimedia, cine-video-animation, music, photography and design. Since 2015, the Porto Digital has also been working in the strategic urban technology sector.

The Porto Digital is a national benchmark and the result of a coordinated effort between businesses, government and academia, known as the Triple Helix model. This initiative generated the necessary setting to enable the Porto Digital to become one of the most innovative environments in the country. 

Currently, the Porto Digital houses 267 companies, fostering organizations and government agencies, and has around 8.500 employees. Since late 2014, the park also operates in the city of Caruaru, in the interior of the state. The National Association of Promotors of Innovative Enterprises (Anprotec) regarded the Porto Digital as the best technology park in Brazil, in 2007 and 2011. In 2005, A. T. Kearney proclaimed the park the biggest in the country.
