CORNET welcomes Brazil as new partner

The CORNET Coordination Office has succeeded in gaining Brazil as a new partner in CORNET! After Peru, it is the second country from South America to join the CORNET network which keeps expanding over several continents and, as a result of the recent success, has now grown to 12 countries and regions from all over the world.

EMBRAPII – representing Brazil in the CORNET network

The corresponding funding organisation from Brazil and new CORNET partner is EMBRAPII (short for “Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa e Inovação Industrial”). EMBRAPII – the Brazilian Agency for Industrial Research and Innovation – is connected to the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Comunications (MCTIC) and to the Ministry of Education (MEC) and manages public funding. It operates through cooperation with public or private technological and scientific research institutions that are accredited as “EMBRAPII Research Units”. These units focus on entrepreneurial demands and innovation projects that are in the pre-competitive stage – a perfect fit for CORNET!

Participation already in the next call opening on 12 December 2018

EMBRAPII’s mission is to strengthen the innovative ability and power of the Brazilian industry through supported collaboration between companies, universities and research institutes. The organisation is keen to realise strong project ideas together with other CORNET partners and therefore already participates in the upcoming 27th CORNET Call for Proposals opening on 12th December 2018 with deadline on 27th March 2019.

Calls for Proposals

The 27th CORNET Call for Proposals is now OPEN! Submission is possible until 27 March 2019, 12 p.m. (CET) via the Submission Tool.

Twice a year, CORNET issues Calls for Proposals for international Collective Research projects involving at least two different countries/regions. The calls follow a bottom-up approach: every topic that supports SMEs in their innovation efforts is welcome.

A CORNET project consortium consists of three pillars in each participating country/region:

1. SME organisation, association or cluster (depending on national structures),
2. research performer and
3. SME user committee with a minimum of 5 SMEs per country/region (the required number might be higher depending on national rules).

One of the participating countries needs to take the lead as project coordinator and has to submit the joint proposal within the stated deadline.
